Ship's Blog - Fishermen's Finest

Fishermen's Finest is thankful for the support for and from the Coalition to Save our Ship

With over 100 member companies, the coalition reflects support throughout the maritime sector for projects that recapitalize our aging fishing fleet and keep our shipyards strong, such as the construction of the state-of-the-art freezer/factory trawler AMERICA’S FINEST at Dakota Creek Shipyard in Anacortes, WA.

“One of the greatest things I got from tSB is to ‘push your growing edges.’ You had to step out of your own bubble, you need to try new things, and it was okay through the process to fail and fall because that’s how you learn to grow and better yourself.”

Kung Hei Fat Choi ~ Happy Chinese/Lunar New Year 2017 from Fishermen's Finest

Those who are born in the Year of Rooster – according to Chinese zodiac – have many distinguished characteristics, such as being ambitious, honest, and bright. They also communicate very well with others. Roosters are talkative, outspoken, frank, open, and loyal individuals. They like to be the center of attention and always appear attractive and beautiful and prefer to dress up. In daily life, they seldom rely on others. Roosters are always active, amusing, and popular within a crowd.

Ms. Park made her annual address to the FFinest crew at Fishermen's Finest Anacortes this week.

Good people are the key to our success and Ms. Park took time out of her speech to recognize Henry Siosi for 272 days at sea in 2016 aboard the American No.1.  We recognize you Henry, as 'A man of steel,' and applaud your hardwork and dedication to Fishermen's Finest.

As we look back upon our 30th anniversary - 2016, we recall that another member of today's meeting was aboard the American No.1 waving as the vessel went through the Ballard locks on April 17, 1986 - Captain Erin Moore, who started out at the bottom and has worked his way up through the ranks at Fishermen's Finest - Thank you Erin for your hardwork and dedication to FFI.

We believe safety isn't an accident - you have to work proactively to maintain a safe workplace and to train a safe workforce.  That is why we encourage our crew to better themselves by attending safety courses offered through organizations such as

Not only do we encourage our crew, we step up to the plate and pay for our crew to attend.  Further, a more trained crewmember will move up in the pay scale aboard the vessels.  It's a win-win-win.

Over 100 Fishermen's Finest Family (FFamily) attended the Seahawks v. Cardinals game on Xmas Eve at Century Link Field.

As part of our annual production goal and in recognition of days at sea, TEAM FFI was together to celebrate the holidays and take in some NFL football in the loudest stadium in the Country.

Mayor Lauri Gere and the entire Anacortes City Council took a moment last night to Honor Dakota Creek Shipyard for their important work in the community of Anacortes.  Liz Stout and Hollie Anthonysz accepted the award on behalf of Dakota Creek Industries and we were proud to take part in acknowledging the fine shipyard that is building AMERICA'S FINEST as well as maintaining AMERICAN NO.1 & US INTREPID:
