Kirkland Chamber Awards

The Kirkland Chamber of Commerce held its 87th Annual Awards Luncheon on December 8, 2022, at the Heathman Hotel. The event, sponsored by Evergreen Health, Lee Johnson Auto Family, Kathy Feek Art Consulting, The Port of Seattle, and Waste Management was in honor of those who have given back to our community.

Chamber board member, Kristian Uri, recipient of the 2021 A. Duane Lund Chamber Member of the Year Award presented Alicia Quaco of the Eastside Health Network with the 2022 A. Duane Lund Award.

Kristian addressed the crowd and introduced Alicia:

Thank you to the Kirkland Chamber for recognizing me as the 2021 Member of the Year.  I was humbled by the honor and believe there are many people more deserving of this award than me.

This Chamber is a special place that supports our community in so many ways – from the storefronts on Lake St. to big corporate entities in the office buildings – and everything in between and beyond.

Before I give up my title as Member of the year 2021, I want to remind you of what THIS CHAMBER has done for me at Fishermen’s Finest – the support you provided our Company in the most trying times of our work life, saw us through the most difficult time in our history as we were investing $80 million to build a new fishing vessel at Dakota Creek Industries in Anacortes, WA.  I won’t go into detail, but it’s a remarkable story of what a Chamber of Commerce can do for its membership.

As our President Dallas Stewart told me, it’s a symbiotic relationship – the more you put in, the more you get out.  With that in mind, I plan to continue to work to support our Chamber to the fullest and it’s my honor to introduce you to this year's recipient -

Alicia Quaco is the Director of Operations for the Eastside Health Network, a clinically integrated network between Overlake and Evergreen Hospital.

Alicia is currently representing Overlake Hospital Medical Center on the Kirkland Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, where she has served since 2018

 ·         Vice President of Events for the last two years.

·         Chamber Gala Planning Committee for 4 years and served as the committee chair for the last 2 years – soon to be three years with the 2023 gala right around the corner.

Additionally, Alicia and Overlake sponsor our Chamber Golf Tournament every year, Alicia has modeled in our Chamber Sustainable fashion show for the past two years, and she sponsors our Annual Chamber holiday party.

As I said, someone much more deserving of the Member of the Year award than ME!

Congratulations Alicia – I’m honored to present you with this award.

The Chamber Member of the Year Award is named in memory of A. Duane Lund, a highly regarded local attorney who served as President of the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association.  Duane epitomized Chamber involvement and commitment to his community.  He served on the Board of Directors and was Board President in 1993 and it is said that the older he got the more he realized he could give to the community.

The award honors a Chamber member who has performed special service over an extended period of time. It is presented to a member who has contributed significantly above and beyond what is normally called for in connection with Chamber volunteer service. The nominee’s commitment of resources, including time, and talent to the advancement of the Chamber and business should be exemplary.

This person should exhibit the character traits and skills of a leader and promote the principles of professional idealism, fostering goodwill and loyalty toward the Chamber.

This award is presented to the Chamber member who has displayed outstanding contributions to the Chamber in the past year.

Below, are the additional community members who were recognized at the Annual Luncheon.
