Juan Hernandez Retirement

Juan Hernandez, valued member of the Fishermen’s Finest team, has made his last trip aboard the U.S. INTREPID. He offloaded the boat this weekend in Kodiak and came through the Kirkland Headquarters today to be recognized for 25 years of service and to acknowledge his retirement.

Juan gives Ms. Park a bouquet of flowers to thank her for the job.

Juan Hernandez was 39 years old when he received the call from Fishermen’s Finest that we had a spot for him - originally on the AMERICAN NO.1. As fate would have it, the crew filled on the A1 faster than anticipated and he was offered a job on the U.S. INTREPID instead.

That proved to be a good move for Juan, as after 25 years at sea with Fishermen’s Finest, he is now 65 and he worked all but one contract aboard the U.S. INTREPID. His only other boat was the AMERICAS FINEST. A great shipmate, hard worker, and known as a ‘kid’ aboard the boat, foreman Martin Garcia gave him the nickname “Jaunito” as he has the energy of a child - nonstop worker that leads by example.

The nickname stuck and we are so proud to wish Juanito a HAPPY RETIREMENT. He will always be a valued member of the Fishermen’s Finest FFamily.
