Darrin Eklund 1998

Circling back to recognize our long-time employee Darrin Eklund who was recognized by Ms. Park at our Joie De Vivre 2019 party at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue January 4, 2019. Darrin made it into the office later that year (September after fishing in the Gulf of Alaska) and was presented his Rolex Date Just Submariner.

Captain Darrin Eklund and CEO Helena Park - Sept. 2019 Fishermen’s Finest Kirkland Headquarters

Captain Eklund started out as a fish processor aboard the Bristol Enterprise (now U.S. Intrepid) in 1989. Over the years he worked his way up to Deckhand, First Mate (2003), and ultimately Captain (2017).

Darrin joined the U.S. Intrepid under Fishermen’s Finest in March of 1998 (we acquired the vessel in 1997 from Tyson Seafood). He became deck-boss a year later and his upward trajectory has continued to this day. He has spent most of his time as First Mate primarily aboard the U.S. Intrepid but has been Captain aboard the U.S. Intrepid and American No.1 since achieving his U.S.C.G. Captain’s License in 2017.

As the sentiment in the Certificate of Appreciation says,

In Recognition of Valuable Contributions to Fishermen’s Finest Inc.

THANK YOU

For an Excellent 20 Years!

Awarded this 4th day of January at FFI joie de vivre 2019

All of us at Fishermen’s Finest are proud of Captain Eklund’s accomplishments on and off the vessel and wish many more years of success. If you see Darrin around the boat, in the office or shipyard, please be sure to recognize him for a job well done.
