October is Seafood Month

As we welcome autumn, we also celebrate National Seafood Month. The United States is recognized as a global leader in sustainable seafood. U.S. fishermen operate under the most robust and transparent environmental standards in the world.

“Don’t overcook your seafood.” That’s the key to cooking delicious seafood according to Chef Tom Douglas

Kristian Uri, General Manager, Fishermen's Finest, and Dave McFadden, Managing Director, Economic Development Division, Port of Seattle, were the featured guests on Seattle Kitchen Radio with Chef Tom Douglas, Tom Douglas Restaurants, to help celebrate October’s National Seafood Month.

Kristian shared his passion for fishing and the industry, talked about the woman-owned company that harvests and processes groundfish in the North Pacific and Bering Sea, and brought along some sole for the chef to cook. #DeliciousEats

Dave talked about the Port’s more than $100 million investment in the future of Fishermen's Terminal, including the Maritime Innovation Center which is an exciting business incubator, located in the vacant Seattle Ship Supply building, for the next generation of fishing companies.

35 years ago, Tom Douglas and Jackie Cross opened the Dahlia Lounge, a restaurant that helped define Northwest cuisine, marrying an innovative and elevated menu with warm, informal hospitality. Over the years, the Company grew to include multiple restaurants, a farm, a catering division, and a product line, including three best-selling cookbooks, but the heart of the business stayed the same – deliciousness served with graciousness.
